Zuckerberg and Musk would hate our idea

Zuckerberg and Musk would hate our idea.

Have you ever been annoyed by false scientific claims or gross oversimplifications on social media?

A strong claim takes seconds to post. Checking what was actually measured, what the original source really says, which assumptions are required and where the conclusion goes too far takes much longer.

We don’t know what Mark Zuckerberg or Elon Musk think about Formal Claim Auditing.

But imagine we could get people to spend 24 hours checking the claims behind a post before reacting to it — and to respond with arguments instead of emotion.

They might not be quite so happy about that.

That is the idea behind Formal Claim Auditing (FCA).

FCA starts with the claim itself:

What exactly is being asserted?

What was actually measured or demonstrated?

Which premises are required?

What follows — and what does not?

AI can help reconstruct these arguments and find the relevant passages. But a convincing AI answer is not yet an audit. The reconstruction still has to be checked against the original sources.

We use FCA ourselves at Sixpack Mind AI. And we are making the method publicly available because we want people to be able to look more closely for themselves.

And yes: in the appendix, we put our own headline through the same audit.

Have you ever checked a scientific claim on social media and discovered that the original source actually said something different?
